Upcoming Marburg Dances

28th August to benefit the Marburg Show with the Diamonds Band.

4th September to benefit the Marburg Show with the Step by Step Band.

11th September to benefit Lowood School with the Triple Beats.

18th September to benefit Lowood Softball with the Coachmen Band.

25th September to benefit the Marburg Show Society with the band to be announced.

All dances are held at the Marburg Show Hall, Marburg Showgrounds, Queen Street.

Dancing starts at 7.30. Entry is $10 for adults and includes supper, tea and coffee. Soft drinks are available at additional cost. Parking is plentiful and free.

Calling all fabric artists

Black Snake Creek Festival 2010 (October 8 and 9) is hosting a new Fleece, Fibre and Patchwork competition this year. There are multiple classes of quilting and fibre as well as a special competition for fleeces from a 50 kilometre radius of Marburg.

Entries must be delivered to the Anglican Church Hall, Queen Street, Marburg, Queensland 4346 between 12 midday and 2pm on October 8, 2010. Entries are limited to two per person and items may not previously have been exhibited at the Black Snake Creek Festival.

Mining book successfully launched

The Ipswich City Council launched Seniors' Week today in Marburg. During the event, the new book about local mining from the Rosewood Scrub Historical Society was also launched. Councillor David Pahlke stood in for Mayor Paul Pisasale who was unable to attend. Councillor Sheila Ireland also attended.

Authors Bob Hampson and Wendye Gratton with some of the miners whose stories are in the book.

"Winning the Coal: Coal Miners' Stories from the Rosewood Scrub" is available for $15 from the Rosewood Scrub Historical Society. It's full of miners' stories as told by the miners themselves, with photographs of some of the local mines, historical mining equipment and an invaluable list of small local mines.

A good crowd gathered for the launch on a perfect sunny morning in Marburg.

Seniors' Celebration

The City of Ipswich is launching its Seniors' Celebration at Marburg on Monday 16 August. Mayor Paul Pisasale and Councillor David Pahlke will be in attendance.

Starting at 9am and running through to 1pm there will be:

* Free Morning tea and lunch
* A First Aid overview and CPR demonstration
* Tai Chi class
* Trivia Competition
* All day entertainment and activities
*Launch of the Rosewood Scrub Historical Society's new book - Winning the Coal: Coal Miners' Stories from the Rosewood Scrub.
* The Rosewood Scrub Historical Society will be open all day for visitors.

All events will be held in the Marburg historical precinct at the corner of Queen and Edmond Streets, Marburg.

A sneak peak at the Black Snake Creek Festival

The Black Snake Creek Festival is always awash with music, people, art and fun.

The 2010 Festival will be no different.

It runs from the afternoon of Friday October 8 to late Saturday October 9.

One of the featured bands will be the ever engaging Wasabi.

Take a peek and plan to be in Marburg to hear them.

AGM 2010

Tuesday 3rd August 2010, 7pm at the Marburg Community Hall on Edmond Street, Marburg is the time and place for the 2010 AGM of the Marburg and Districts Residents' Association. Come and be part of this important community group.
